Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 4th July 2022 at St. Peter’s Church, Louth Road, South Somercotes

Item 0722/86   Chairman’s Welcome 

The Chairman opened the meeting at 6.32pm and welcomed everyone to the monthly meeting. 

Item 0722/87 Public Forum

No Members of the Public were in Attendance and no Matters Raised under this Item.

Item 0722/88 Apologies & Acceptance for Absence

Apologies were received & accepted from Cllr Mrs Tracey Poulter.

Item 0722/89 Police Matters   

No members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team were in attendance, no update had been received and no matters were raised.

Item 0622/90 District & County Councillor Updates

District & County Cllr Mr McNally reported on: Minerals & Waste Consultation – Ask for new sites, reviewing polices and current permissions that may need to be altered to accommodate need.

Fire-Fighters – Applications opened for 10 new positions, some based at Louth. Medical Equipment Recycling – Available now at Louth Recycling Centre. Trees – Refer to website to register trees, recorded in the past year and new schemes available. Cllr Mrs Jackson said that she had tried a few years ago but a complicated process. Cllr McNally said that the information is available on the LCC website. Lincolnshire currently has the lowest rates for the number of trees in the county.

Item 0722/91 Declarations of Pecuniary Interest in accordance with LGA 2011

None.

Item 0722/92 To Resolve as Minutes the record of the meeting held on the 6th June 2022

It was proposed by Cllr Mrs Benton, seconded by the Vice-Chair, Mrs Daly and resolved that the Minutes of the meeting held on the 6th June 2022 were a true record. The Chairman duly signed & dated the Minutes.

Item 0722/93 Chairman’s Report

The Chairman had no specific matters to report.

Item 0722/94 Clerks Report

BT Kiosk – Awaiting update from Northern PowerGrid.

Item 0722/95 Parish Councillor Reports

The Vice-Chair handed in £10.95 which has been raised from the Book Stall at St. Peters Church.

Item 0722/96 Financial Matters 

HSBC Bank Accounts – Awaiting Cheque Book. As soon as it is received the invoices for grass-cutting and to order the Marquee/Storage Bags/Storm Ties will be paid as agreed.

Details of a Pop-Up Marquee along with Storage Bags and Storm Ties were considered. It was proposed by Vice-Chair, Cllr Mrs Day, seconded by Cllr Mrs Benton and resolved to order/purchase.

6.56pm District Cllr Mr Rickett joined the meeting.

District Cllr Mr Rickett asked on the plans for the defibrillator and asked that when complete a photograph is taken with him and Cllr Mr McNally to represent the funding support they have given.

Item 0722/97 Planning Matters

No matters to consider and no matters were raised.

Item 0722/98 Highway/Lighting/Footpath Matters

The footpath on Town Street near to the corner of East Row along with the footpath on East Row remain outstanding. Cllr Mrs Jackson high-lighted that the hedge on the bends is still obstructing the footpath. A letter was sent to the owner to ask that the hedge be cut back. 

Item 0722/99 Jubilee Field & St. Peters Church

The Churchyard grass has been cut and volunteers will meet on Saturday 11th July to rake up the long grass and remove off the churchyard. Thanks and praise were given to Daniel Ireland who has taken on the grass-cutting of the Churchyard. Cutting will be at least once a month. 

Thanks were also given to Gordon Dowson and Tracy Eddington for their help with the Churchyard.

The Jubilee Field continues to be cut on a regular basis.

Somercotes Fete – Saturday 10th September 2022 on the Jubilee Field from 2pm. Fun Dog Show starting at 3pm, BBQ, Raffle, Tombola, Craft Making, Local Crafts, Bouncy Castle, Miniature Garden Competition, Sheep & Sheep Dog Demo, Cakes & Savouries, Beer Raffle, Refreshments and more.

Village Scarecrow Competition and Scavenger Hunt. 

A meeting will be held on Monday 11th July at 6:30pm with kind permission and welcoming by Cllr Mrs Jackson.

Item 0722/100 Reports from Outside Bodies

An entry into the North & South Somercotes Communication magazine will be submitted: Please note that the Date has been changed from previous communication entries and now has been set for SATURDAY 10th September 2022, FROM 2PM on the Jubilee Field. BBQ, Raffle, Refreshments & Cakes, Dog Show, Beer Raffle, Local Craft Stalls and much more…. Further details will be advertised on the South Somercotes Facebook Page.

A Jubilee Committee Meeting will be held on Monday 8th August 2022 6:30pm at Northolme, Louth Road, South Somercotes. A Further Meeting will be held after the Parish Council Meeting on Monday 5th September 2022 which commences at 6:30pm at St. Peters Church, Louth Road, South Somercotes.

Set-up of the Jubilee Fete will be on the evening of Friday 9th September at 6pm on the Jubilee Field. Many Hands make light work, any help would be greatly appreciated. Any Ideas, If You Would Like to Help Out, Raffle Donations, Please Get in Touch with Denise Day, Tracey Poulter or Pauline Jackson Thank You. (Contact Numbers will be included)

Scarecrow Competition & Scavenger Hunt – The Village Scarecrows are back!! No theme, let your imagination run wild and place your Scarecrow out for judging before Saturday 10th September 2022. 

There will also be a scavenger hunt for Scarecrows around South Somercotes, Please look out & collect them from the morning of the Fete being held on 10th September 2022 and return them to the Fete to enter a prize draw. 

Item 0722/101 Next Meeting – Monday 5th September 2022

The Parish Council Resolved to move Parish Council monthly meetings to a Monday evening. The next monthly Parish Council Meeting will be held on Monday 5th September 2022, commencing at 6:30pm with the Public Forum. After the meeting there will be a meeting to finalise the details of the Somercotes Fete. 

With there being no further business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7:40pm.
