Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 1st October 2019 at St. Peter’s Church, South Somercotes

Public Forum

No members of the Public were in attendance and no matters raised.

Item 1019/124   Chairman’s Welcome 

The Chairman opened the meeting at 6.30pm and welcomed everyone to the Parish Council meeting.

Item 1019/125 Apologies & Acceptance for Absence

Apologies had been received from Cllr Mrs Tracey Poulter and District Cllr Mr Paul Rickett.

Item 1019/126 Police Matters

No representatives from the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team were in attendance. PC Richard Precious had advised that following the dog concerns raised, a visit to the owners was made along with the dog warden. The owners have tried various methods of equipment and are also attending in-hand training. Concerns that were reported were discussed and appreciated, advice was given and it was hoped that no further issues would be encountered. 

Item 1019/127 District & County Councillor Updates

In the absence of both District & County Cllrs, no reports were made. District Cllr Mr Rickett had advised that there had been no ELDC meeting and no specific matters were to be passed on but any queries or assistance needed would be welcomed.

Item 1019/128 Declarations of Pecuniary Interest in accordance with LGA 2011

None.

Item 1019/129 To Resolve as Minutes the record of the meeting held on 3rd September 2019

It was proposed by Cllr Mr Duma, seconded by Cllr Mrs Benton and resolved that the Minutes of the meeting held on the 3rd September 2019 were a true record. The Chairman duly signed and dated the Minutes.

Item 1019/130 Chairman’s Report

The Chairman had no specific matters to report under this item.

Item 1019/131 Clerks Report

The Clerk passed on the September correspondence collated from the last meeting to be circulated to Cllrs for their perusal.

Arrangements for the key to open and close St. Peters Church had been arranged with Cllr Mrs Benton and Mrs D Day. 

ELDC are hosting two workshop sessions on the Corporate Strategy which will be out for consultation. 

The notice that has been placed in the BT Kiosk has been actioned. BT are looking into the matter and will respond shortly.
 
Item 1019/132 Parish Councillor Reports

On behalf of Cllr Mrs Poulter, the Chairman reported that the Youth Council have resolved to meet once every other Sunday in St. Peters Church to be able to work on the eco-project and have a Youth Council meeting once a month. Work has already commenced on the eco-project.

Cllr Mrs Duma reported that some members of the public were seen on the Jubilee Field standing on the tables. A note was placed on the South Somercotes Facebook page to ask that the furniture in the Jubilee Field not be used in this manner. A comment was made to how a donation of Play Equipment could be made. The resident was invited to the Parish Council meeting to discuss further but was unable to attend.

October Expenditure: None.

Item 1019/134 Planning Matters

None.

Item 1019/135 Highway/Lighting/Footpath Matters

The edges along East Row are corroding in places but thought to be grass verge damage from vehicles. 

Item 1019/136 Jubilee Field & St. Peters Churchyard

Additional grass-seed can be purchased in 20kg bags at a cost of £71.40. An interest into the tender of the grass-cutting services had been received and will be reviewed in the new year.

Item 1019/137 Reports From Outside Bodies

Remembrance Sunday small gathering on Sunday 10th November 2019 at 11am, St. Peters Church with refreshments served afterwards.

A entry for the North & South Somercotes Communication November edition would be submitted o advise of the Remembrance Sunday Service and the next Parish Council meeting date.

Item 1019/138 Next Meeting –  5th November 2019

It was Resolved that the next monthly Parish Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 5th November 2019 commencing at 6:30pm at St. Peter’s Church, South Somercotes. 

With there being no further business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7.12pm.
