Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 3rd September 2019 at St. Peter’s Church, South Somercotes

Item 0919/109 Chairman’s Welcome
The Chairman opened the meeting at 6.30pm and welcomed everyone to the Parish Council meeting.
Item 0919/110 Apologies & Acceptance for Absence
Apologies had been received from District Cllr Mr Paul Rickett.
Item 0919/111 Police Matters
No representatives from the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team were in attendance. It had been noted that the Police had been seen in the local area and the CCT had advised that the Police would carry out local enquires relating to the broken window at St. Peters Church.
Item 0919/112 District & County Councillor Updates
In the absence of both District & County Cllrs, no reports were made.
Item 0919/113 Declarations of Pecuniary Interest in accordance with LGA 2011
None.
Item 0919/114 To Resolve as Minutes the record of the meeting held on 6th August 2019
It was proposed by Cllr Mrs Duma, seconded by Cllr Mrs Benton and resolved that the Minutes of the meeting held on the 6th August 2019 were a true record. The Chairman duly signed and dated the Minutes.
Item 0919/115 Chairman’s Report
The Chairman had no specific matters to report under this item.
Item 0919/116 Clerks Report
The Clerk passed on the August correspondence collated from the last meeting to be circulated to Cllrs for their perusal. A letter of condolence was sent to Mrs Stubbs following the sudden and sad loss of Mr Christopher Stubbs of Manor Farm, Scupholme. Mr Stubbs was a Parish Councillor in previous years and a respected member of the community who will be greatly missed.
Following on from the concerns raised relating to dogs within the parish; PC Richard Precious has advised that they will be visiting the owners of the dogs along with the local dog warden to provide advice.
Item 0919/117 Parish Councillor Reports
Cllr Mrs Poulter reported that the Youth Council would be meeting this evening. A copy of the Minutes produced from the last meeting were provided and placed in the correspondence file for circulation. The Youth Council enjoyed helping and taking part in the fete.
Item 0919/118 Financial Matters
August Expenditure: None.
South Somercotes Country Fete (Jubilee Field) – Amount raised after expenses £777.30.
Item 0919/119 Planning Matters
None.
Item 0919/120 Highway/Lighting/Footpath Matters
The pothole near to the Pumping station has not yet been repaired and has deepened. Cllr Mr Duma has reported the defect which was not showing on the system.
Cllr Mrs Poulter reported that the Youth Cllr enquires onto the footpath near to the Rectory had been clarified that it was the footpath that is currently with LCC to be assessed.
Item 0919/121 Jubilee Field & St. Peters Churchyard
The South Somercotes Country Fete was held on Sunday 1st September 2019 even though there were showers before and after the fete, it remained dry whilst on and everyone had an enjoyable afternoon.
A HUMONGOUS THANK YOU to everyone that attended and supported the 2019 Fete. The impressive array of cakes, kindly donated by local and talented bakers were soon purchased from Rowena Benton and helpers along with refreshments with a smile from Pauline or from the Beer Raffle kindly organised and served by Denise, Jodie and helpers. There were many Winners on the Raffle and Tombola and the South Somercotes Youth Council organised and provided a few games for all to have to have a go at. A Huge Thank You to the Adlard Family for again providing their fantastic games and to Denise for the Bowling Game. The BBQ served delicious burgers and sausages locally produced from Holmes Farm. Special Thanks to Dave & Tracey Poulter for organising, being Chef and to Cllr Mr Daniel McNally for helping out and serving. Thank You to Bensley’s Ice-Creams who attended along with various local stalls and visits from PC Richard Precious, Local Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Coastguard Team. Lots of fun was had on the Bouncy Castle and Softplay (DH Inflatbales) and Thank You to Richard for bringing along his herd of Sheep and fabulous Shepherd Crooks and not forgetting the superbly behaved Sheep Dogs.The Village Scarecrows were an enjoyable sight throughout the village, even if this year the number of Scarecrows taking part was very low. A big "Well Done" to the residents that joined in the competition, every scarecrow out was fantastic. The winning Scarecrow was the ‘I’m Not Half Tyred Sat Here’ Scarecrow located at Christmas Cottage.A MASSIVE THANK YOU for all the generous donations received from local residents, businesses and those that continually support the Village and Fete each year. We had a great turnout to help set-up on the Saturday evening which was greatly appreciated. A Big Thank You to Keith May for providing equipment and help and Special Thanks to Corinne & Igor Duma for all their continued help and support in many ways.Lastly, but by no means least a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to EVERYONE that was involved, helping, organising, setting-up, clearing away and helping out throughout the day to make it a huge success raising £777.30 for the Jubilee Field. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
The grass-cutting for the Church and Jubilee Field will continue to be cut on the same time-scale set. Enquires will be made to obtain an amount of grass seed to be spread where applicable if necessary. Quotes will be obtained on cutting the edges of the field.
Item 0919/122 Reports From Outside Bodies
Enquiries will be made to obtain a key for St. Peter’s Church from the CCT.
Pauline from Northholme has kindly offered to provide refreshments in St. Peters Church after the Remembrance Sunday small gathering on Sunday 10th November 2019 at 11am.
Item 0919/123 Next Meeting – 1st October 2019
It was Resolved that the next monthly Parish Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 1st October 2019 commencing at 6:30pm at St. Peter’s Church, South Somercotes.
With there being no further business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7.14pm.
