Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 2nd April 2019 at St. Peter’s Church, South Somercotes

Public Forum: No members of the public were in attendance and no matters were raised.

Item 0419/31   Chairman’s Welcome 

The Chairman opened the meeting at 6.30pm and welcomed everyone to the Parish Council meeting.

Item 0419/32 Apologies & Acceptance for Absence

Apologies had been received and accepted from District Cllr Mr Robert Palmer.

Item 0419/33 Police Matters

No representatives from the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team were in attendance and no feedback had been received. The news high-lighted at the last meeting relating to the person residing in the village awaiting trial; Advice was received that no further information could be provided but if there were any concerns or suspicious activities notes then they should be immediately reported to the Police.

Item 0419/34 District & County Councillor Updates

District Cllr Mr Palmer had given his apologies for not being able to attend the last meeting of being District Cllr. Cllr Mr Palmer wanted to thank the Parish Council and Parish for the support over the years and wished everyone all the best for the future.

Item 0419/35 Declarations of Pecuniary Interest in accordance with LGA 2011

None.

Item 0419/36 To Resolve as Minutes the record of the meeting held on 5th March 2019

It was proposed by Cllr Mrs Duma, seconded by the Vice-Chairman that the Minutes of the meeting held on the 5th March 2019 were a true record. The Chairman duly signed and dated the Minutes.

Item 0419/37 Chairman’s Update

The Chairman reported and presented some options on purchasing a grass-cutting equipment for the Jubilee Field. Advice had been sought on the most suitable equipment needed. Cllr Mr Duma and the Vice-Chairman will liaise further and the Chairman will check on the rolling needed for the field. 

The Chairman had also enquired on the cost of holding the Parish Council meetings at the Village Hall in North Somercotes. Discussions took place on where the meetings should be held and the possibility of holding the meetings throughout the winter months at the village hall would be considered later on in the year.

Item 0419/38 Clerks Report

The Clerk passed on the correspondence collated from the last meeting to be circulated to Cllrs. A resident had reported issues with Broadband at Scupholme. The issue is in-hand with BT who had asked for the contact details of the Parish Council. No communication has been received from BT.

BT have been chased regarding the removal of the telephony equipment in the kiosk. They have advised that they are hoping it will be removed in the next few weeks.

Item 0419/39 Parish Councillor Updates

Cllr Mrs Poulter reported on the interest received from young members of the Parish wanting to get involved in a Youth Council. There have been six replies to date. Discussions to place on the set-up of the Youth Council along with the required and relevant checks. 

Cllr Mr Duma reported that both he and the Vice-Chairman had changed the lock on the notice-board following the report of the lost key. 

It was noted that there have been grass-cuttings deposited on the side of East Row and rubbish/soil in the drain near to the junction. It does not look like fly-tipping but if the drain is being filled in. A close eye will be kept on the area. 

Item 0419/40 Financial Matters

Payments had been made as requested last month. Quarterly bank statements will be circulated.

April Expenditure: None.

Item 0419/41 Planning Matters

None.

Item 0419/42 Highway/Lighting/Footpath Matters

It was reported that the footpath in front of Ganders Patch is in a poor condition and the large pothole on East Row near to the bend onto Town Street has not been repaired. This will be reported to Highways. The pothole on East Row was immediately reported using Fix My Street App.

Item 0419/43 Jubilee Field & St. Peters Churchyard

The tables will remain off the field at the moment.

The No Dog sign is missing off the field and is wondered if it has fallen into the dyke. A check will be made.

The grass-cutting of Church has just been carried out and the field will be cut when ready to do so.

Item 0419/44 Reports From Outside Bodies

None.

Item 0419/45 Next Meeting – May 2019

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Annual Parish Meeting and the monthly Parish Council Meeting will all be held on Tuesday 7th May 2019 commencing at an earlier start of 6pm.

With there being no further business, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7.24pm.
